United Way Day of Action 2012

On June 21, we'll mobilize the community to provide summer reading books to thousands of children from low-income families. Our goal is to provide 60,000 children up to age nine with a book of their very own along with inspirational notes and a Parent Tip-Sheet to help encourage their love of reading.

April 30 - May 11, 2012

  • Go shopping! Participate in our Virtual Book Drive and bring summer reading to thousands of children around San Diego County. Just $20 can sponsor books for 8 young readers from households where books are a luxury. To stay in the loop on book drive details, sign up for e-news on our home page.

United Way/CHAD Campaign Kickoff

United Way and Combined Health Agencies will kick off our annual campaign on Monday, September 24 with a community celebration themed "Five Years of Impact." Attendees will learn how their support has improved the lives of young people, struggling families and the chronically homeless in the years since United Way began funding using a community impact approach. We will also announce the winner of this year's James F. Mulvaney Award for Community Leadership and the Naish Award for United Way Volunteer of the Year.  Mark your calendars! The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m.
