United Way of San Diego County’s Women’s Leadership Council takes to heart the national call to action. With a steering committee representing the financial, legal, and service industries, as well as education, health care, and the volunteer sectors, the council raises awareness and much-needed funds to support United Way’s efforts to improve Education, Income, and Health.

This strong group of women – some of the region’s most influential and altruistic leaders – provides San Diego women a meaningful philanthropic opportunity to learn, lead, and advocate on issues critical to advancing the common good. By contributing their time, talent, and financial support (a minimum of $1,000), the Women’s Leadership Council hopes to achieve positive, long-term change in our community.

Kathleen Sellick, CEO and President of Rady’s Children’s Hospital, chairs the Council. She feels strongly about their mission to improve people’s lives by mobilizing the strength and varied resources of women in the San Diego Community. “We have a long-term vision to provide San Diego women with a meaningful philanthropic opportunity to learn, lead, and advocate, locally and nationally, on issues critical to advancing the common good.”

On Wednesday, November 18, from 4-6 p.m., Solar Turbines will host the WLC for a program that includes a factory tour and overview of the industrial gas turbines business. Speakers include Steve Gosselin, President of Solar; Lulu Hsu Director, Marketing and Business Development Customer Services; and WLC Leadership Chair Kathleen Sellick, President, Rady Children’s Hospital.

The program will be held at Solar's Kearny Mesa offices, 4200 Ruffin Road. To RSVP or learn more about the event or the Women’s Leadership Council, contact Shaina Gross, Community Impact Manager, at 858.636.4181 or sgross@uwsd.org.
